Tito Puente, Jr at the Raue in Crystal Lake 9-17-2011
Tito Puente Jr. and his gang brought their Latin Music to the Raue Saturday night, kicking off the Raue Center's Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Tito sang and danced as he played Mambo, Cha-Cha,& Salsa music!
The evening's first half of Latin-flavored classical selections was smartly programmed - it flew by - and gave the Chicago brass section a chance to shine.
And although the star of the evening, judging by the hoots and hollers, was Puente, it bears noting that the program's first half seemed tailor-made for his conductor and piano player, whose physical, playful conducting style transcended any language barriers and shaped a sparkling first half of big, brassy and breezy selections. Dancing shoes were really flying as the audience danced around the aisles !!
After an intermission, Tito returned with more of his Latin music and the dancing continued.
Here's a few pictures and video's of the evening!!
Great music! Great dancing! Great evening!
